Juneteenth is a holiday rich in history and acknowledged by so many African Americans. It is known to be a celebration of the freedom of African Americans and a testament to what they have overcome. Juneteenth has just become a federal holiday and is the newest federal holiday in the books. Fresh out of legislation, it has been met with so much excitement and enthusiasm from black people who know their history.

Recount the History to the Younger Generation
It is important to keep your history alive by telling it to the coming generation. You should invite your kids and grandkids to your retirement community and celebrate with them. You should have some sumptuous delicacies that symbolize sacrifice and transition. Special meals for the occasion include watermelon, velvet cake, beverages, and barbecued meats.
You should note that the reason for inviting them is to tell the part of your history that cannot necessarily be found by a simple google search. By teaching the next generation, you are keeping history alive. Don’t forget to tell them to also tell their kids and grandkids before you say goodbye.

This is where you walk the talk. To commemorate this historical event, you should support the success of committed African Americans who have worked hard and have done the black community proud. If you appreciate entrepreneurship, then this is for you. You would be helping make a lot of dreams come true by putting in a few dollars
These business owners have overcome all odds and have chosen to stand out. They would be a large variety of platforms through which you can see the accomplishments of black-owned businesses and support one or two of your choice.
Donate to Reputable Foundations
Still, in the spirit of freedom, this is also another way of putting your money where your heart is. It would be all over your social media feed, and a couple of organizations that work hard for the black community would come up.
This is a way of making an impact on the future, as funds raised would be used to fund the education and scholarships of African American students. The funds would also go into the development of African American communities as well as other notable projects.
Attend Events Online or Onsite
You would get to know about a variety of conferences and webinars as you used to previously. You can be chauffeured to the event if it is a physical celebration through the Connections Transportation program that comes with the senior living programs in your retirement community.
