How To Help Your Loved One Choose
If you’re working with your loved one to choose just the right retirement residence, here are some tips:
- Consider community accessibility. Trips into town can be for entertainment, a visit to a restaurant, a picnic in the park, shopping, and other enjoyable opportunities for socialization.
- Look at all options where the layouts (floorplans) are concerned. Decide whether an open concept would be preferable or divided living area/living area. Does the layout include a patio? Is there a kitchenette, in case your loved one can safely prepare meals?
- What are your loved one’s preferences where living spaces go? Is a cozy suite just right, or would they like a roomier set up such as an apartment?
- Some downsizing will likely be necessary. How many of your loved one’s personal items will be coming along could have everything to do with the size of the apartment they’re going to need or prefer. The more things they can part with, however, the better. The last thing your loved one needs now is clutter.
